A busy writer and producer, David Sheldon has written and produced twelve feature films and has worked in various executive capacities on over 50 other movies. One of his first feature films as a writer and producer, "Grizzly," is one of the most financially successful independent films in motion picture history, earning 50 times its cost worldwide. He co-authored, co-produced, and co-directed "Grizzly Adams: The Legend of Dark Mountain."  He wrote, produced, or directed  "Lovely But Deadly," "Just Before Dawn," "The Guardian," "The Evil," "Day of the Animals," "The Manitou," "Sheba Baby," "Devil Times Five," and "Abby." 


     He wrote with Joan McCall the screenplay "Grizzly II: Revenge”) featuring George Clooney, Charlie Sheen, Laura Dern, Louise Fletcher, Deborah Raffin, Deborah Forman, Steve Inwood, and John Rhys-Davies in the cast. He wrote, produced and co-directed a reality series, "Small Town Secrets" for Twentieth Century-Fox Television.


     He started out in Hollywood editing scripts for television shows such as “Love American Style,” “The Mod Squad,” “Laugh-In,” “Mission Impossible,” “Bewitched” and “The Brady Bunch” and went on to become Director of Screenplay Development for Lawrence A. Gordon ("48 Hours," "Field Of Dreams," "Die Hard," etc.) at American International Pictures where he supervised various aspects of productions such as "Dillinger," "Sisters," "The Reincarnation of Peter Proud," "Logan’s Run," “Amittyville Horror,” and "Walking Tall." He subsequently went into partnership with producer Phil Feldman (“Blue Thunder,” “The Toy,” “A Star is Born,” “The Getaway” and “The Wild Bunch”).



      David Sheldon earned an MFA degree in playwriting and screenwriting at the Yale University School of Drama, was trained by Robert Penn Warren, and has been a member of the Director's Unit of the Actors Studio in New York. During his college years and thereafter, he produced and directed over 150 Broadway plays and musicals * at the Gateway Playhouse in Bellport, Long Island. He sub- sequently became director of the Columbia Pictures Talent Farm, developing new writers and actors in association with Columbia Pictures talent scout Joyce Selznick. His outstanding work has been acclaimed in Newsweek, Life Magazine, the New York Times and other publications.  He wrote with Joan McCall, "When I Knew Al (the Untold Story of Al Pacino), published by Harbor House.
